Product Overview:
This counter top instrument is configured for mouse and rat gas anesthesia. It includes both oxygen and nitrous oxide flowmeters, both of the low flow type (0-1000 cc/min) preferred for better resolution when only animals under 2700 grams will be anesthetized. An oxygen-flush button for fast resuscitation permits bypassing the gas vaporizer and sending oxygen directly to the animal. A drawer provides convenient storage for items used only with the gas anesthesia instrument.

Animals under 2700 grams do not have sufficient tidal volume to fill and empty masks, and open and close check valves. Therefore, the preferred method of anesthesia is to place the animal’s nose in a continuous slow flow of gas.

CAUTION: be sure to work with the animal under a hood, or use a scavenger system, to avoid breathing the anesthetic gas yourself. Continuous exposure to anesthetic gases causes permanent changes in brain that affect susceptibility to anesthetic gases should you ever need a general anesthetic yourself.
